Research Collaboration
It is well known that we are not only a tertiary care infertility centre in India specialized in IVF/ART, but also focus on continuous research in our never ending quest to continually fine tune existing treatment protocols, perfect present technology and develop newer ones. In a time when infertility treatment is being extensively commercialized and IVF/ART has evolved into one of India’s most lucrative “business”, our focus is on advancing science and knowledge through research leading to better results is a rarity and to be on the top list of infertility centres in India.
In recognition of our commitment to research and standardization of treatment our director has been invited on the National Panel of experts for IVF centres of the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. Of India to monitor the standards of IVF centres mushrooming all over the country. We are proud to have been made a member of The Special Task Force formed by The European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) to lead research for developing low cost IVF for developing countries. We happen to be the only centre from Asia in this task force.
The number of “firsts” which the institute boasts of in the field of infertility/ART is testament to our commitment to bring about success in even those cases where most other infertility centres in India give up as impossible. This is our legacy inspired by the chief of our ART division who is responsible for developing many of India’s original infertility treatment protocols including IVF, IUI, GIFT and ICSI and has been involved in this work since 1980, two years after the birth of the world’s first test tube baby Louise Joy Brown in 1978 in Bourn Hall, Cambridge, England.

Original reports and publications:
Original research data and findings generated from our ongoing programs are regularly presented at World Congresses and International meetings, starting from the joint paper presented at The 3rd World Congress on IVF in Helsinki, Finland in 1984 reporting India’s first IVF pregnancy, to our latest report on the “Reappraisal of IVF stimulation in good prognostic patients- mild vs long protocol” reported at the 66th annual meeting of the ASRM, Denver, 2010. Our publications have appeared in the world’s leading peer reviewed journals in this subject. Medical textbooks authored by researchers in our centre are popular among post-graduate students all over the world.
Education:
The centre takes a leading role in educating young post-graduates and physicians interested in this field. Many such budding doctors and scientists trained within its laboratories are successfully working in top positions in hospitals and infertility centers in India all over this city, country and indeed, internationally. We have forged collaborations with renowned institutions of higher learning whose students spend time in learning and training with us before getting their degrees.
